Clearly defining the job is critical to a more objective and productive interview!
Interviewers can have the tendency to use their first impression of the candidate to drive the direction of the interview. If the candidate makes a good first impression, then the interviewer might try to build on that. But if the interviewer isn’t impressed, then he or she might try to prove the candidate is not qualified for the job. Defining the job based on what the candidate needs in order to be successful can overcome the emotional reaction of the interviewer and lead to a more objective assessment of the applicant.
