Employees need ongoing feedback.

The annual performance process may not be enough; employees need to know how they are doing on a more frequent basis.  In order to learn, to grow, to overcome mistakes, employees need to hear from their managers.  We live in a fast paced world, communication is flying around everywhere, and very, very quickly. This same thinking applies to employees.  For them to get better at their jobs and to feel good about what they are doing, they need feedback more often than just once a year.
